Welcome to the Geelong West Community Garden website. On this site, we hope to provide you with some information about the garden, its members and gardening.

The community garden is situated at 129 Autumn Street, with a back entrance and carpark in Leckie Place, on about 500 square metres of council land in inner suburban Geelong West.  We have a lease with council. Members pay a bond when joining, then an annual subscription to cover maintenance, insurance, leasing and other costs. We hold quarterly meetings for the wider membership and at least 4 working bees a year, plus as needed.  Committee meetings are held on a regular basis.

There are 35 plots including a Children's Garden with three plots having two raised beds each.  Tools are provided and there are two garden sheds with gardening equipment, a sheltered area with a barbecue, seating and an outdoor kitchen, raised beds, a sandpit, communal fruit trees, a herb garden and other facilities.  Members are encouraged to use these fantastic facilities and are welcome to bring friends along to share the delights of the garden.

Many of our members are not involved in competitive sports but enjoy this form of family oriented recreation as it is a healthy and enjoyable pastime in an outdoor setting in this inner suburb. The community garden attracts those who believe in sustainable practices. It provides a focus for people of different backgrounds to meet, share knowledge and ideas, develop friendships, foster a sense of power and ownership amongst residents and develop a sense of community.
